Dinosaurs Sensory Tub & Colors Sensory Tub

I’m not sure if I am totally sold on the idea of sensory tubs at this point.

I am trying to simplify things around here and have yet to decide whether the sensory tubs will stay or go.

In the mean time I will share what we’ve got going in our tubs right now…

E has been playing with these kidney beans for almost a year and a half now.  I have rotated different objects in and out every few months or so, but have obviously kept it very simple.

I just put together L’s first sensory tub last week.  I picked a “colors” theme and went WAY overboard.

As soon as I showed it to her I knew it was way too much for her at this point, she is only 15 months old.

Does this tub not scream sensory overload?! (You live and learn, right?)

I gave her some old food containers to fill and dump, which I know she enjoys because she has done it with some of these items on a smaller scale, but she wasn’t into it.

(PS She did not sort all of the objects above on the color coordinated cards.  I did one on each to show her.  I think it is pretty obvious which ones she did.  At least she grasped the concept of putting the objects on the cards!:)

emily kate - I think this is a great bin! But it definitely is a figure it out as you go kind of thing. I don’t think my Vday one was exactly what Addie wanted. Hopefully the St Pats one I’m working on will be better for her. One problem is she’s in a dumping/throwing stage so it gets messy and I don’t like setting her up for a situation where I’m going to be frustrated with her and she’s going to get upset when I take it away.

Lori - Miss Hill, no you’re not! You are out taking your kids to the beach, park and Disneyland. My children are sitting inside playing with buckets of stuff.
